Apple is a role model for many manufacturers. This statement is especially aimed at Chinese manufacturers, who are very likely to soon take up the majority of the market. Luckily, the days when the “made in china” label was synonymous with cheap and poor quality copy of Western products. Nowadays, what happens in the market is that we see more and more Chinese brands launching products capable of competing in both performance and design with the best brands in the world. As for Apple, it also has a lot of rivals in Asia, and products like CIVILTOP Air attest to that.
The MacBook Air from the popular apple brand is a high-end ultrabook known to all, what would you think if I told you that in Asia we can find similar products that can make the first one go unnoticed? I guess many who read these lines would strongly oppose, and calling the Chinese variants mere copies of the MacBook Air.
Despite this the reality is that many of the laptops made in china are able to provide a much more than acceptable performance, being a decent list of specifications and priced well below that of Apple. In that sense, the ultrabook CIVILTOP Air is one of the most attractive rivals of the MacBook Air that you will find on the market. That is why we bring you this review, so you know their benefits and judge for yourself the performance of this new laptop.
In reality, the situation in which the CIVILTOP Air finds itself is more complicated than one can imagine. This device will compete not only with the Apple MacBook Air and “steal” its customers, but also against some prominent brands in the Asian continent who also compete to become a niche in the market facing the Apple laptop. Among them we can mention the Xiaomi Notebook Air 4G, the YEPO 737S and the Jumper EZBook Air. The CIVILTOP Air will certainly not be easy to join in this competition. On the other hand, this brand has already launched some models for this niche, models like the CIVILTOP S643, M651FB and G672FB had their chance, now it is the turn of the CIVILTOP Air.

Civiltop Air: Design
The first feature that catches our eyes is its metal casing. As we all know, most Chinese laptops are made of plastic. So in this sense, CIVILTOP Air has a tangible advantage. It comes with a glossy surface, which makes the product look more elegant. This laptop comes with a 12.5-inch screen. Therefore, it is very comfortable in terms of potability. We can carry it without even needing a bag.
Like other ultrabooks this has a meager thickness. That’s why the main ports and slots are located near the hinge. The 3.5mm audio jack is on the right side, while the USB Type-C port is on the opposite side. Unfortunately, it does not have other ports available, but I do not think this is a problem, since most ultrabooks users do not usually use many peripherals.
This laptop comes with a keyboard that has no special feature, the keys are plastic. These are relatively soft and with an elasticity that can be considered scarce, although the speed of writing will not be affected. Thanks to the acceptable distance in which the keys are to each other, as well as the height, it is difficult to tire even after writing for several hours.

On the other hand, the touchpad is under the keyboard. This works without problems, and also has an interesting feature: a fingerprint scanner integrated with the same touchpad. With it we can unlock the screen without using anything other than our fingers.
In terms of dimensions, the CIVILTOP Air has 29.42 x 20.00 x 1.26 cm and weighs only 1.270 kg. Therefore, we are dealing with one of the lightest ultrabooks available in the market. To get an idea, the Xiaomi Notebook Air has a thickness of 1.48mm and weighs 1.280kg. The CIVILTOP laptop is available for the moment only in champagne colour, and there is no indication if other colours will be offered for sale.
Civiltop Air: Hardware and Features
Many may not be impressed by the design of the CIVILTOP Air. Still you should know that that is not the strong point of the device, since what really marks the difference between this and other ultrabooks on the market is its hardware. While on the one hand many Chinese ultrabooks have good design, on the other hand we find that they have a really poor hardware. Fortunately, this is not the case with Civiltop Air.
The ultrabook features a 12.5-inch Full HD TFT screen with a 16: 9 aspect ratio. Therefore, we will be able to view multimedia content in high resolution or work with a great image quality. In addition, it comes with an Intel Celeron N3450 quad-core processor and the Apollo family of CPUs. This processor has a clock speed of 1.44 GHz., Is based on 14nm process technology, has a cache of 2MB and a power consumption of 2W. Intel Turbo Boost technology delivers extra dynamic power when needed.
The chip is paired with an Intel Graphics 500 (GPU) at 200MHz – 700MHz, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB of internal eMMC storage. The latter has no option to be extended, but has the capacity for an expansion of RAM up to 8 GB.

One of the biggest shortcomings of this product is the battery of 4,000 mAh that provides between 3-4 hours of autonomy. This is something that is actually normal for laptops, but we usually see larger capacity batteries on laptops with a screen less than 13 inches.
Finally, the other features include a 0.3MP camera for video calls, WiFi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, and Bluetooth 4.0. Finally, it comes with DOS pre-installed. So unlike others, we must install Windows or Linux by ourselves.
