The Cadillac CT6 replaces the ELR as the manufacturer’s electric bet

After the fiasco in sales that turned out to be the Cadillac ELR, the manufacturer returns to have on the market a unique plug-in bet with the Cadillac CT6, that has arrived a few days ago to the American dealers.

The Cadillac CT6 is not a generational imitation of the ELR, but in Cadillac they want to learn from the mistakes of the past and, although inherited part of the Voltec system of the Chevrolet Volt, they have modified their platform and by the way, they have taken the production to China, Country where it will also be offered. The result of all this is a slightly more reasonable price than the ELR.

It will start at $ 75,095 (about $ 70,800), about $ 15,000 more expensive than the thermal version of the Cadillac CT6. Now, that difference must be subtracted from the amount that can be obtained via aid in the United States. And is that the US luxury and electric segment still has access to some subsidies.

The Cadillac CT6 jumps to the market to compete with the Mercedes S 550e, the BMW 740e, the BMW 530e or the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.

To try to make a more significant gap that its predecessor has a battery of 18.4 kWh, such as the Chevrolet Volt, which provide 50 kilometers of autonomy in exclusively electric mode. Its propeller is capable of reaching 339 hp and 100 km / h in just 5.2 seconds.

However, CT6 is not expected to reap spectacular registrations, but rather will struggle to stay afloat over the months.
